On Thursday, April 20th, the traditional Dubrovnik FestiWine Gala was held at the restaurant Lenga at the Hotel Dubrovnik Palace. This food and wine spectacle is a charitable event intended for funding further education of young and talented chefs and sommeliers.

To the delight of the attendees, young chefs Đuro Kravić and Tihomir Antunović shined by assisting the guest chef Fabricio Vežnaver and host chef Petar Obad from the Adriatic Luxury Hotels. Đuro and Tihomir won the FestiWine Challenge scholarship for 2016 and, following the glowing recommendations of their teachers from hospitality schools, spent a month in the beautiful hotel and restaurant Draga di Lovrana under the expert mentorship of chef Zdravko Tomšić. The attendees of the Dubrovnik FestiWine Gala were delighted with selected delicacies prepared by Fabricio Vežnever, one of the top chefs of the famous JRE association, who together with Petar Obad, the poet and chef at the Hotel Excelsior, participated in creating one of the most anticipated wine and food events of the year in Dubrovnik.

The excellent winning wines of the last year's Dubrovnik FestiWine Trophy competition, which served as an inspiration to chefs, were presented by the London sommelier Mario Tomeković. The guests were guided through this fundraising wine and food spectacle full of culinary surprises and exciting wine stories by Ingrid Badurina Danielsson, the renowned wine and food journalist and director of the Taste the Mediterranean project.

The entire proceeds of the Dubrovnik FestiWine Gala Dinner were allocated to further education and professional training of the young talents of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County as part of the 2017 FestiWine Challenge competition. Chef Kristina Curić and young waiter Ivo Kmetović, the winners of the Challenge, spent an entire month at the Pergola restaurant in Istria under the expert mentoring of chef Fabricio Vežnaver and his team.
